President's Message

July, 2018

Good day to all family members of Mandeville High students.

At this time I want to introduce myself as your new PTSA President here at Mandeville High School.  My name is Christina Laurent.

I have had the fantastic privilege to be a volunteer at several schools here in the St. Tammany School system throughout the years and have enjoyed every one of them.   As a parent and volunteer this past school year, I want to thank you for everything and all that you have done to better your student’s lives.  When it comes to your PTSA, we look forward to doing the same this upcoming school year.

During the school year keep an eye out for our “Friday Compass” weekly email and our “Skipper Scoop” monthly newsletter, which will keep you up-to-date on your PTSA and school activities. Please take the time to like us on our Facebook page at “Mandeville High PTSA” and our Pinterest page at mandevillehighptsa.  At this time we will be doing some updates to our current information located on our website. Thank you for your patience during our transition.

If you have any questions, please contact me through our email at mandevillehighPTSA@gmail.com.  We look forward to a great 2018-2019 school year!

Best Regards,
Christina Laurent

How to Join

August, 2017

Welcome to our new website! I am so very proud to be writing this first President’s Message – and look forward to staying in touch with our Skipper community through this most certainly improved site.  First off, this site would not be possible without the very hard work, dedication, and patience of our new Webmaster, Katie McDonald. Katie and her family are brand-new to MHS this school year, having moved here this summer from their previous active duty (Army) assignment in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. Katie attended our first General Membership meeting on August 15th, and that same day volunteered to be our webmaster. In less than one month she took a wish/idea I had all last school year and turned it into reality. I can’t say thank you enough.

Another volunteer I want to recognize is Jessica Tanel, our Skipper Scoop Editor. In September 2016 Jessica resurrected the Skipper Scoop, which previously had been published quarterly, and pledged to produce a monthly school newsletter. She succeeded in this, and went above and beyond. The Skipper Scoop is a wonderful publication, and I’m so very happy Jessica agreed to be our editor for the 2017-2018 school year.

The Leadership Team has been busy processing your first day packets and I’m very pleased to say we have 429 members on the rolls so far. My new motto is, “Yes, you can still join the PTSA, and while you are at it, have your student join too!” Every member who joins provides our treasury with funds to pay for student programs and events. We just hosted the Skipper Scholar Breakfast, and our next planned events are the Breakfast of Champions and our 2d Annual Student Care Program Assembly. I’ll write more about both in the near future.

Respectfully,
K. Pagel
